National Day of Service

The Details

Serve with TLW at Wheat Street Garden (National Day of Service – Environment)

According to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.Truly Living Well is excited to uphold this sentiment with the support of volunteers and local organizations on this national holiday.

TLW understands and appreciates the importance of Dr. Kings message on the strength of community and a persons basic rights. As an organization, TLW strives to teach people how to grow their own food and believes that eating well is a right for all, not a privilege for the few. We put this belief into action by making fresh, healthy produce available to everyone.

On Monday, January 21st, volunteers will install raised bed gardens at a deserving individual or family residence, community school, church, non-profit organization and/or low-income housing division in the surrounding community. We will also complete a number of projects at Wheat Street Garden, TLWs 4 acre demonstration site, which will include mulching, weeding, garden beautification, and planting. The raised beds will provide edible landscaping and promote self-sufficiency by empowering people to grow their own food, encourage healthy eating and bring about unity in the community by the shared experience of gardening.

Truly Living Well is a 501(c)3 based in Atlanta that works to engage the community in developing local food systems through education and food  production. We look forward to working with you!
